The birdie flew the coop

So a week after he made himself at home we came home the Friday afternoon and he had left.
I think he enjoyed his stay in our pool but it was time for him to continue on his journey.

Fly save little duck.

The birdie is staying

Ok, so the vet in Johannesburg that wants the duck insists that I catch him and drop him off. There is no way I am too scared I will hurt the little fellow.Therefor he is staying for know.He flew in so maybe he will fly out again when he is ready.

Here is me in the swimming pool with the duck.

A birdie came to visit

A very strange duck flew into our pool on Saturday and he has made himself comfortable.

It is called a Wood duck:

The Wood Duck or Carolina Duck, Aix sponsa is a medium-sized perching duck. A typical adult is about 19 inches in length with an average wingspan of 29 inches. This is about three-quarters of the length of an adult Mallard. It shares its genus with the Asian Mandarin Duck.

The adult male has distinctive multi-colored iridescent plumage and red eyes. The female, less colorful, has a white eye-ring and a whitish throat. Both adults have crested heads. When swimming, wood ducks bob their head back and forth in a jerking motion, which makes them easy to spot.

Their breeding habitat is wooded swamps, shallow lakes, marshes or ponds in eastern North America, the west coast of the United States and western Mexico. They usually nest in cavities in trees close to water, although they will take advantage of nesting boxes in wetland locations if available. Their personality is shy and skittish.

Here is some pic's of our new pet.
I have phoned the Bird and Exotic Animal Clinic and they will relocate him to a new home.

Mommy we played at school today.Yes.......

I picked my daughter up from school last weak and was on our way home when I asked her what she did today. She replied politely that they played and oh, 2 of her friends made out.In Afrikaans it went like this(I am not going to mention the said individuals names) $$$$$ and $$$$ het gevry.

I nearly went of the road and new that she did not know the word so maybe she did not understand it.I started asking questions like:

Where did this happen? On one of the play gyms that has a place for them to crawl in.
Where were you? In there with them sitting at their heads. HUH?
So where were they sitting? They were lying on top of each other and kissing.
How did they kiss? Was it like mommy kisses you? No and she showed me using her hand.

By this time I nearly went into a tree.I don't bring up my kids as conservative as my parents did with me but this was way too much for a 4 year old to comprehend.

This only indicated to me that there is not proper supervision at her school.I went the next morning and had a discussion with the teacher.I explained that I was not happy with this and that I hope it was taken up with their parents as well.

Boy oh boy, now I can understand why certain kids are sexually active at 10 years of age.Where were the days that you were still a kid playing not making out.

Feeling sad

So I am guilty haven't been posting for a while but its the start of the new year and between birthdays and work have been pretty busy.

To top it of my little sausage dog Gina took ill.The vet initially though it's her thyroid gland and after spending R1600 and hoping she might recover my worst fear was confirmed she had a brain tumor and went blind within a weak.I unfortunately had to put her down yesterday.

It was the hardest thing I ever had to do.I held her head in my hands crying like a baby while the vet injected her.I told her how much I loved her and that everything was going to be OK now.She went to sleep forever.Tears are falling on my laptop as I share this sad moment with you.

For those that knew Gina she is now in doggie heaven as I had to explain to my crying daughter last nigh.I know t was for the better but I will miss her and keep her in my heart for ever and ever.

RIP- my darling Gina......

Load Shitting..........

So I'm thinking about moving to Zimbabwe.Although they don't have petrol, food and their money means zip at least they've got power.
This morning just before nine our power at home went off due to load shedding.Since it was raining all of last week I have no more clean clothes to wear and the washing machine was working overtime.Power came back on at eleven.
Now were sitting at work waiting in anticipation for the power to be cut as the Tshwane Metro website informed that load shedding will take place from 13hoo to 16h00.NOTHING has happened.I just hope it doesn't go down just before 16h00 as I need to leave for home and traffic will be horrible.
I wonder what will happen with the 2010 Soccer World Cup as Eskom announced the new power plant will only be finished in 2016.What a joke.
