BBM/BIS ????The Cow gets a lesson in Blackberry speak

Ok, this might seem illiterate to some of the gadget and Internet enlightened people out there, however I am a fast learner.I upgraded and being a Nokia or HTC user for so many years I was presented with the prospect of a Blackberry 9700 Bold.I got my new BB on Monday and what a cool phone.Next thing I need to activate my BIS?????BIS what can this mean...Big Internal System(My Brain) or I can think of a couple of things to replace the BIS with.Frantically, searching the manual I find nothing.Nadda,zip.Go onto the service providers sight.BIS = Blackberry Internet Services.Next thing I am asked by friends to supply my pin in order to join Black Berry Messenger .Way cool but alas my BIS is still not activated and after some phone calls the Bull will arrange that today. So within 2 to 24 hours I should be available to invite and except invites to BBM.My new favourate way of speaking.BB=Bey Bey

The cow watched the Bokke.......

Me and the bull left Saturday morning early to join up with the rest of the people in Parktown. We got on to the bus at about 11h00 and went to Chaf Pozi in Orlando Soweto for lunch and entertainment. The invite should rather have read lunch and lots of booze.

Chaf Pozi is where we went.
"Chaf Pozi (which means “our secret place”), is an upmarket Shebeen-style restaurant nestled at the foot of the iconic Orlando Towers in Soweto. Diners can select their own meat and spices from the restaurant’s “butchery” and watch it sizzle on an open braai while enjoying a drink on the veranda. Dishes include all the traditional favourites such as boerewors, braai chicken and lamp chops, served with chakalaka, pap and sauce."

Here is a pick of one of the towers that I took:

We had great food and great fun.We left for the FNB Stadium to go watch the mach at about 15h00.The bus dropped us of right infront of the stadium. What a place. It was my first time visiting the stadium and it was awesome.

The atmosphere was just as awesome.90 000 people. The most people at a Boks game in South Africa ever.We had our flags and we sang our national anthem with pride.AND THEN WE LOST THE GAME IN THE LAST 4MINUTES.
But still it was a stunning day.We ate, we drank and me and the Bull got to spend the day on our own. Thanks to my dear friends that babysat for us.I love you guys.

A calf his brother and a bookcase

Tuesday afternoon I got a phone call from the school that a bookcase fell on Johan's leg. There is some swelling but he seems fine.So I rush to the school as soon as I can.His ankle was blue and badly swollen.

After phoning the doctors office and being told there is no appointments available but I can come in and wait I go there.Waiting an hour the Bull arrived and we decided to rush to casualties.Good thing we did.
An x-ray revealed that Johan had broken his -tibula and fibula just above the ankle as well as his fibula just below the knee.Course of action: He will be admitted and they have to wait for the swelling before taking him to theater to manipulate the leg and fit a cast.

We slept in hospital and the doctor send us home Wednesday morning. We had to be back on Friday to go to theater.I laughed so much at Johan. The premeds they gave him before going to theater worked really well.As the nurse wheeled him out to go to theater he let out a big Yea ha...

At least all went well.He has a blue cast on his leg and at home. There is a little bit of pain but he loves all the attention.

How this happened is another story. His brother and a friend was arguing over a toy that was on the bookcase. This caused some pulling and shoving causing the bookcase to topple and fall on the innocent party. His brothers reply: I screamed at him watch out but he did not hear me.

The joy of being a cow with calves.....

12 Years in the barn

So last weekend we had our wedding anniversary.Twelve years can you beleive it.Has it really been this long?

It's strange but I try to remember what it was like back then and remember being able to :
1. Sleep in
2. Not get up at all and spend the day in bed
3. Just pack up and go somewhere without having to arrange a babysitter.
4. Fitting into a size 12 pants (He he)
5. Having perky boobs( Boy do I miss those)

But in the end I have to say I do love the Bull even more now then I did then.
He is my everything. My buddy,my lover,my phycologist and my soulmate.......

Barnyard stories #2

This sounds like the sequel to another kids movie that grown ups actually enjoy more than the kids.So I stopped at Christmas.

January came and I enrolled Anika at the Primary school for grade R again. As I think I mentioned before intellectually my kid is far ahead but emotionally she wasn't there yet.Off course she enjoys grade R as this is at the school and she got to make lots of new friends that will join her next year in grade 1.I went today and started buying school uniform for next year.

Did I get a shock. A school dress for a 7 to 8 year old R200.I will be buying school uniform from now till December. At least then I won't have the expense all at once in January(When no one has money after the silly season)
Anika's godfather got married in February. They are 2 special people and I hope them all the best for the future. At this same wedding a friend of ours mentioned that he has Jack Russel puppies and if we know of anybody we must please let him know.Needless to say the bull decided that will be the coolest and the dog will entertain the twins and they will be best of friends. We reserved a little male as Fred our dachshund was getting old and maybe this is a good idea.

Needless to say the day arrived and we picked up the new family member. Now know as Stoffel. He was the smallest little thing.Of course the kids enjoyed him.I had to play referee as the doberman Sheyla decided to adopt him.She got milk within a week and she weened him.Between Sheyla and the kids Stoffel was well sorted.I noticed that when he started walking around he would bump into stuff.I had the vet take a look and we discovered that poor Stoffel was blind.
Now I have a dachshund that is nearly death and a Jack Russel that is blind.Stoffel adapted so easily. He now navigates the whole house and yard without bumping into anything. He shews on everything like all pups do, the only difference is he can't see what it is he is shewing. He shewed on Anika's bedside lamps wires and had a black burn mark on his bum.He must have gotten a shock.
Taking about shock Werner tried to bite the electric fence and got burned underneath his chin.Does all children do this or only mine?

General barnyard stories

As for the rest of 2009 all was normal.Anika lost her first teeth,I had my standard Biff day party and decided on a cocktail theme.Boy oh boy did we drink cocktails.

My dearest friend Angel took some pictures(that can be found under her albums on face book) as I neglected to do so after consuming vast amounts of cocktails I now refuse to try and pronounce.

I was in hospital for a week with my back.Looks like another disc decided to push against my nerves. This time they did not cut and gave me an epidural and then injected cortisone into the disc.Almost a year later and all seems to still be in place.

We got a cat after we discovered a mouse. The kids got to pick the cat.I wanted a black cat but have to say that Jack is the entertainer of the family. He is a slut for attention and loves to be vocal about it.

We lost a very special person as well. The Bulls dad past away and we went through a tough time.It has almost been a year now and we still feel the pain.

I also participated in the making of a calender.I was Miss November. No it does not look trashy.A bunch of us girls that have bikes got together to raise money for the relocation of the Wild dogs.We had professional photo shoots as well as make up done and we had fun...We had the official launch last year as well.

Calender launch party

In October I went to Port Elizabeth again and went fishing with my dad.Got to read and just relax.

The kids had their first school concert. We had a laugh.Johan did not want to participate.Upon investigating he explained that he needs to be a pig for the concert and that he is definitely not a pig and will not wear pink. The teacher then made him a dear.Werner got to be a dog and Anika was a fairy.Apart from Johan dismantling the fairy lights on the stage all went well.

Then it was Christmas again. The kids had their Christmas get together. We also shared Christmas with the family.

My friend Angel had a birthday bash at her house and of course we ate the greatest cupcakes.I was on leave but at home with the kids and could not wait for school to start and for the monsters to get back to their normal routines.

Mama cow had a birthday and I went to PE

Road trip

My mom had her birthday and the brother and sister including myself had a road trip down to Port Elizabeth. My sister and myself flew back again and the brother staid for another week.

For those international readers Port Elizabeth is where they caught Paris Hilton and friend with what we here is South Africa call marijuana, weed, spiff and so forth.....

We had blast on our trip and I so enjoyed the me time I had.Although I missed the little rascals.I slept late, lounged and went to the beach. We got to see the most beautiful sunset and some dolphins.
